Johny, trying to reduce, followed a certain diet

He recorded his weight daily at 8:00, naked, using the same balance.
Some of his entries are given below:

Apr 3...........102.6 kg
Apr 8...........101.1 kg
Apr 14.........99.4 kg
Apr 18.........98.7 kg
Apr 22.........98.0 kg
Apr 28..........97.6 kg

Please provide your estimate of his average April weight.

A geometrical approach | Comment 3 of 10 |
Would you check out those time stamps?  Daniel posted just 10 seconds before me with the same title.  But our approaches were actually rather different.

Consider plotting the points and finding the areas of the 5 trapezoids formed by dropping vertical segments down to the day axis.  There would also be two rectangles at the ends for the points (1,102.6) and (30,97.6)

The areas are 205.2+509.25+601.5+396.2+393.4+586.8+195.2=
2887.55 kg*days
dividing by 30 days gives
96.2517 kg
------------------------------------
Edit:  There are only 29 days from April 1 to April 30.
2887.55/29 = 99.5517 kg
Which makes more sense as the previous estimate is below all the original weights.
