6 cards, labeled 1,2, ...6, are randomly put in 3 different envelopes, at least one card in each.

There are probably other answers with different scenarios of randomization. An obvious one is that the first four cards are independently randomly distributed, and then, if all have gone to the same envelope, fill the remaining two envelopes with the remaining two cards; and if on the other hand the first four have left only one envelope empty, then randomly place the fifth and then if that still is empty, place the sixth card in the empty envelope.
That seems a more psychologically satisfying "randomization" than putting one card in each envelope and then distributing the remaining three cards randomly.
