Well, I don't know what happened before, but now Desmos gives the same graph as the TI calculator. See it here.
Oh! I see the difference is that on the LHS, I didn't include the (x) in the function definitions. It didn't seem to matter for the non-iterated parabola, but did matter for the iterated version.
