What do the following words have in common?

nail, snug, leper, sinew, differ, latches, signified

My guess is that all the words are still valid words when you switch the first and last letters:
lain, gnus, repel, wines, riffed, satchel, dignifies.
I don't know if that's the intended answer; it could be mere coincidence..
