Your assumption that A cannot be 0 needs a better reason! A number 0???? * 4 indeed can equal a five digit number! There is a better reason that A cannot equal 0. Assume that A=0. The first integer multiplied by 4 must therefore be equal to a multiple of 10. Knowing our multiplication, the first integer must be a multiple of 5. E must therefore either be 0 or 5. We already know that E cannot be 0, and no 4 digit number *4 can equal 5????. Therefore, A must not be 0.
