N and P. Each letter denotes the surname of a British Prime Minister, starting with Sir Robert Walpole in 1721. The sequence is the chronological order of when they first became Prime Minister. The order is Walpole, Compton, Pelham, Pelham-Holles, Cavendish, Stuart, Grenville, Wentworth, Pitt, Fitzroy, who were followed by North and Petty (the answers). The 11th term, as mentioned in one of my hint posts, is B, or Bentinck, and the last term (the 52nd) is obviously B for Blair. |
