These are the first 9 square numbers beginning with 1 in the centre spiralling upwards and clockwise. My apologies, I was unaware that other numbers could meet the criteria of my totals. I felt that, without compromising the problem, I could only go as far as to saw common sequence, but without drawing attention to the fact.
