What is the next number in this sequence?

1, 4, 9, 16, 25, pi

The sequence is not arbitrary. Create a mathematical function that generates this sequence.

O.K. fwaff, I note that your sequence (p is the 16th letter of the alphabet and i is the 9th...etc) can't explain why 25 is included?. Also, Bryan commented that this needs a mathimatical relations. however it was a smart observation.
